Emma Faye is here
I am so intrigued and interested in birth stories and love reading them because each one is a beautiful display of God’s design and creation! Absolutely amazing! I have had several ask so I figured I would share a little snippet of the day Emma was born with you here!
My pregnancy with Emma was pretty normal with only a slight scare early on with a subchorionic hematoma (uterine blood clot). But once that was clear all was well! I was able to workout normal through most of the 1st and 2nd trimester. In the 3rd trimester I stuck with mostly prenatal workouts and yoga. I ate fairly healthy throughout—-until about Thanksgiving! Then all was downhill and the last month of pregnancy included lots of extra sweets! Oops! I gained 40lbs with this pregnancy (same with the first as well)
Due to Christmas being so close to Emma’s arrival day I scheduled to be induced at 40 weeks if she had not arrived before then! I tried everything in the book to get her here naturally but no luck! I was induced at 40 weeks with my first and reacted well to the pitocin so I decided to do the same with this one.
We loaded up early Wednesday morning (December 19th) and got to the hospital and started pitocin around 6:30am. I was only dilated 1.5cm going in and progressed .5-1cm for the first few hours. Due to progressing quickly with Evie I had an epidural at 3cm. Then the magic number 4cm hit! FLASHBACK—-With Evie, my first, I progressed slow until 4cm then went from 4 to GO TIME in an hour! So we warned the nurses of this and she came into check frequently once I hit 4cm this time. Sure enough! 30 minutes later I was at 7!! Then only 15 minutes later and I felt it was time to push—the nurse said I just checked you but I will check again. She did and said—-baby is here, time to get the doctor…like now! haha My doctor was across the way in the clinic. The nurse said to do a test push just to see and then immediately told me to STOP! The nurse called a doctor from the hall just in case and when he came in he said “oh gosh” because the baby was coming! I laughed at his response and the nurse said “stop laughing it’s making the baby come out!” the doctor got there just in time to catch Emma! My doctor came running in a few minutes later—”I can’t believe I missed it, I ran as fast as I could!” oops!
Evie was born on June 18th at 2:27pm weighing 7lbs 8oz 20.25 inches long and Emma arrived exactly two and half years later on December 19th at 2:24pm weighing 7lbs 12oz and 20.5 inches long. They look so much alike at birth it will be interesting to see as Emma grows if that will continue!

Emma didn’t even make her momma push and has been just as sweet to me since she arrived! Seriously so blessed with a great newborn. I am so thankful for such an easy and awesome delivery with Emma. I did not tear or have any complications post labor either. I did have a few stitches with my first and had complications post delivery from the epidural. However I truly believe staying active throughout this whole pregnancy and continuously stretching and working out helped my labor and recovery go so smooth!!
I took the advice from many with multiple kids on how to best introduce and help Evie adjust to little sister. We had a gift ready to give to Evie that was from Emma. Evie is obsessed with jewelry and candy of course so Emma gave her bracelets and dum dums haha She was so excited! Evie loves to give her sissy kisses and help hold her. She has adjusted very well so far and has been a sweet helpful big sister! Making this momma so proud! We are so blessed and thankful to be a family of four! Thank you for all of your prayers and well wishes during this time!
Thank you to Brooke Davis Photo for capturing these sweet photos just a few hours after baby girl arrived!
